MFC Kitchen Cabinets
Although our kitchen cabinets are constructed with timber, on the inside we use a material called melamine faced chipboard, or MFC. Constructed from a chipboard core and finished with a decorative melamine covering, MFC is a versatile product used by many bespoke furniture manufacturers. It can be found in wardrobes, shelving, and wall panelling.
Sometimes our clients ask us why we use MFC. Because furniture built from MFC is very affordable, they worry that the quality will not match the rest of their Bear and Woods kitchen. However, we quickly reassure them that we only use MFC because we believe it is the right product.
MFC is a very sustainable product. Because the trees used to make it are chipped, the entire tree is used and very little is wasted. EGGER takes a proactive approach to conservation, and is committed to sustainable forestry. The company is monitored by the EU Timber Regulation, and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Up to 30% of the wood used in EGGER chipboards is recycled from high quality waste wood that could otherwise have been burnt or sent to landfill.
